Group Details For French for Beginners 24/25

This is a group for those who feel they need to start again. The current members are not quite absolute beginners, but still have a long way to go!

We focus mainly on building vocabulary and improving pronunciation, to enable conversation, with enough grammar to enable us to make sense of what we're saying and to adapt our knowledge to various similar circumstances. We learn vocabulary related to the topic in hand, popular subjects being family, food, travel, people and places.

Our learning is based round the Dorling Kindersley 15 minute French course book (ISBN: 9780241601310). For extra grammar, we rely on CGP's GCSE French Grammar Handbook (ISBN: 9781782947950). Both books are cheap and readily available. Be prepared to bring things in - photos, pictures, magazines, etc to talk about and to suggest topics which may be of interest to all of us.

For anyone who wants to join us for 24/25, we're up to week 9 in 15 minute French, so it's a good idea to go through the first few weeks of the course before you start - but we do plenty of revision, so don't be too daunted!
