Group Details For Walking (Wednesday 1extra) 25/26 DISC

Group Description :
.
The WW1extra Group walks each and every Wednesday throughout the year, weather permitting - except for Christmas & Boxing Day!
Walks are of SIX to EIGHT miles at a moderate pace (typically 2.0-2.3mph) with some hills and stiles in Cheshire, Staffordshire and the Peak District.
In summer, slightly longer walks are optional to match the longer daylight hours.  Walks will include stops for snack and packed lunch.  Occasionally, an optional Pub Lunch at the finish is offered.
(If you'd prefer walks of a shorter distance, try our companion WW1 group. And, if you still aren't sure which group would be best for you, we do allow you to be a member of both groups - and choose week-by-week which walk best suits you).
Walk details are emailed the weekend before, confirming directions, start point, grade and major challenges of walk, often including stile count. Meeting time is generally 9.45am for a 10am start.
Members can travel directly to the start of the walk or, by prior arrangement, ride-share with other members.
Our walks occasionally require crossing fields with horses and cattle and we do not allow dogs.
Waterproof Jacket and Trousers are essential, as are strong walking boots or shoes. Walking poles are useful for uneven, muddy or rocky ground.
We expect each member to carry their own first aid pack and any medication they may require and emergency instructions for medication where appropriate.
We encourage all Group Members to lead a share of the walks each year, although we understand if members do not have the confidence to lead.
(Our archive with brief details of over 200 of our previous walks can be found "up in the Cloud"
