The WW1extra Group walks each and every Wednesday throughout the year - except for Christmas & Boxing Day!
.
Walks of SIX to EIGHT miles at a moderate pace (with some hills and stiles) in Cheshire, Staffordshire and the Peak District. In summer, slightly longer walks are optional to match the longer daylight hours. Walks will include stops for snack and packed lunch. Optional Pub Lunch at the finish is sometimes offered.
(If you'd prefer walks of a shorter distance, try our companion WW1 group. And, if you still aren't sure which group would be best for you, we do allow you to be a member of
both groups - and choose week-by-week which walk best suits you)
.
Walk details are emailed the weekend before, confirming start point, grade of walk and meeting time.
Meet to share cars&costs (Covid-permitting) or travel directly to the start of the walk.
.
Waterproof Jacket and Trousers are essential, as are reasonable walking boots/shoes.
Walking Poles are useful on uneven ground.
.
Our walks occasionally require crossing fields with horses and cattle and we do not allow dogs
.
We encourage all Group Members to lead a share of the walks each year
.
